Марсель: 1630 - Cardinal Mazarin: Tribute and Battle of Casale SOLD This bronze medal by D (Jean Dillin?) is a tribute to Cardinal Jules Mazarin and the part he played in the Battle of Casale. As a young secretary he acquired an international reputation when he dramatically galloped between the French and Spanist opposing armies about to do battle at Casale in Monferrato on Oct. 26, 1630, shouting "Peace, peace!" as if peace had been concluded.
